What’s better than sitting out in a beer garden with a pint – how about adding a burger to that!
A food truck has recently opened at The Fox pub on Holgate Road, serving up burgers, wings, loaded fries and tacos.
TT Burgers was founded by York-based husband and wife duo Tom and Thalia Allen, hence the double TT name. They opened the truck in May – and it’s already been going down a treat.
“I’ve always had a dream of starting a food truck, but with two children to provide for it’s obviously a huge risk,” Tom told YorkMix. “However we finally decided to go for it.
“We’ve had a great reaction so far – I think people are really excited to see high quality burgers at more affordable prices.”
The burgers start from £6, with choices of chicken and beef. Go classic (£6) or something a bit more exciting such as The Angry Frenchman (beef burger with chilli jam and melted brie, £8) or a Chicken Tower Burger (with extra cheese and a hash brown, £7.50).
Other delicious delights include giant wings (£5), loaded fries (£3.50), nachos (£3.50), and birria tacos (2 for £5, 5 for £10) – which are Mexican-inspired pulled beef short-rib in a tortilla with cheese and choula sauce, and served with a tub of dripping broth. Is your mouth watering yet?
TT Burgers also plan to add some new items to the menu in the coming months, such as a spicy garlic butter Korean gochujang chicken burger, a BBQ beef and bacon burger, and more vegetarian and vegan options.
The food truck has a permanent spot at The Fox for now. “We are hoping to stay at The Fox as we have a really good relationship with both staff and patrons, and it’s a really nice friendly pub.”
