A North Yorkshire restaurant joined an exclusive club tonight (Monday) – as it was awarded a Michelin star.
Fine dining establishment Forge took the honour at one of the culinary world’s most prestigious nights, the Michelin Guide Ceremony.
And unsurprisingly, the team declared themselves “beyond delighted” with the news.
Forge is the restaurant at Middleton Lodge, the hotel and estate found near Richmond.
The Michelin Guide said this evening: “Jake Jones, the 2024 Young Chef Award winner, is delivering on his promise with skilful cooking at the sustainably minded Forge in Middleton Tyas.”
On the Middleton Lodge website Jake, whose father and uncle were both chefs, says: “After gaining experience at notable farm-to-table restaurants in the region, I was drawn to Middleton Lodge’s ‘estate-to-plate’ ethos.
“It was an opportunity to apply my knowledge and skills in a new concept and to get to work closely with an amazing team and the 200-acre landscape.”
After gaining the Michelin Star, the restaurant said: “We’re beyond delighted to have received a Michelin Star for our fine dining restaurant, Forge, this evening at The Michelin Guide Ceremony for Great Britain & Ireland 2025.

“This is such an achievement for the estate and we couldn’t be more proud of head chef, Jake Jones and the estate team.”
And another North Yorkshire restaurant is celebrating after being awarded a Michelin Green Star.
This honour goes to venues which show “outstanding commitments towards a more eco-friendly approach to dining”.
Five were given out tonight – with one going to Homestead Kitchen in Goathland.
Opened in November 2021 by chef Peter Neville and his partner Cecily Fearnley, the menu features their home grown organic vegetables, produce from local suppliers, and “even produce kindly donated by local folk who kindly bring anything they have an abundance of”.
