A York recruitment agency is appealing to former teachers to return to the classroom to help meet a staff shortage.
WorkwithSchools is working with the government as part of the campaign to recruit former teachers to take up positions in schools left vacant by Covid absences.
Business manager at WorkwithSchools Mel Horn said: “We’ve been inundated with school bookings and so fully support the DfE’s campaign.

“We urgently need to recruit more teachers as well as TAs to help our schools in York and North Yorkshire to deliver quality face to face lessons which are crucial for our local students’ education.
“If you’re a qualified teacher who’s temporarily left the profession or has retired, we’d love to hear from you!”
WorkwithSchools has been helping York and North Yorkshire schools to cover short and long term absences due to Covid 19 throughout the pandemic.
