The YorkMix Tonne of Tins appeal has collected a tonne of tins today, in the aim to help tackle food poverty across York & North Yorkshire.
The appeal, running with Yorkshire Profiles Ltd, was set up to help local foodbanks.
Today (Wednesday), Laura and Leigh from the YorkMix Radio Breakfast Club went out to collect a tonne of tins from our drop-off points.
With the cost of living on the rise, those who currently live on the poverty line and regularly access food banks are set to feel the financial hit – and it’s more important than ever that food banks are kept stocked for the people that need them.
The drop-off donation stations included the YorkMix Studios inside the Wizard HQ on Green Lane, Rawcliffe, YorkMix Studios in Selby at Selby Superbowl, Asda Monks Cross, Friargate Quaker meeting house, Toned Salon in Selby, Taylors of Acomb, and Newton Upon Derwent Community Centre.
Laura Castle, host of the YorkMix Breakfast Club, said: “A HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated Tins at our various collection points, and to those businesses who became collection points.

“We could not do this without you, and thanks to you and Yorkshire Profiles we have raised a Tonne of Tins that will only be going to local food banks to feed local families.”
