The Liberal Democrats have launched their York Outer campaign, claiming it’s a seat they can win.
Liberal Democrat Andrew Hollyer, ward member for Haxby and Wigginton on York Council, is standing for the party in a nine-horse race for the seat.
Cllr Hollyer said he was ready to take the fight to the Conservatives on the NHS and the cost of living.
Cllr Hollyer said he would be a hard-working local MP if elected on 4 July.
He said: “Liberal Democrats are ready to take the fight to the Conservatives in York Outer.
“Residents can’t get a GP or dentist appointment and are waiting far too long for ambulances to turn up.

“We have seen the cost-of-living crisis take a grip in York with sky-high energy bills, housing costs and food prices.”
At the last election in 2019, the Lib Dems came third in York Outer, with the then City of York Council leader Keith Aspden contesting the seat.
Conservative Julian Sturdy had a majority of nearly 10K over Labour in the 2019 poll.
Cllr Hollyer, a member of City of York Council for five years, is among those vying for the seat which covers the towns and villages immediately outside the city boundary such as Bishopthorpe, Elvington, Strensall and Rawcliffe.
The other seven candidates standing for the seat include Luke Charters who is standing for Labour.
John Crispin-Bailey is standing for Reform UK while David Eadington is running as the Yorkshire Party’s candidate. The Green Party candidate is Michael Kearney.
Three independents are also running in York Outer. They are Darren Borrows, Keith Hayden and Hal Mayne.
