Children at one York school became rock stars for a day – and they loved every minute of it!
Students and staff at Copmanthorpe Primary School had a rocking good time during a special day at the school on Friday 4 March.
Head teacher Jenny Rogers told YorkMix what it was all about.
“We wanted to encourage children to use Timetable Rockstars, an online platform for the children to practise their times tables, so we thought what better way than to dress up as real rockstars!
“RockKidz joined us for the day to run workshops with the children about dreams and aspirations and the importance of not giving up.
“We rocked throughout the day, ending with a Year 2 to Year 6 dance battle in the hall which I had to judge. Mrs Scott, our emotional literacy support assistant was rocking so hard she clinched it for her team.”
She said there were some great outfits. “A great Freddie Mercury, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones and KISS inspired outfits. Mrs Rogers dressed up as Axl Rose – one of her teenage heroes. There were lots of bandanas, temporary tattoos, big wigs and sunglasses!”
During the day they learned a song called Don’t Quit, “teaching the children the importance of not giving up on their dreams and aspirations”.
