A York police officer has the internet hooked – after his unusual line of inquiry went viral.
PCSO Grenville Dowson has now been seen 2.4 million times on TikTok. And the viewers love him!
He is the co-star in a video by Adam’s Fishing Adventures.
Adam shares his rod-and-line experiences on various social channels. And his biggest hit to date is the TikTok of his interaction with PCSO Dowson that he uploaded two days ago.
Adam was angling in the River Ouse off Queen’s Staith, when his fishing rod-mounted camera picked up the police officer’s clear interest in him as he walked behind him.
Then PCSO Dowson made a beeline for the fisherman.
But any fears that he was in trouble with the law dissipated when the officer broke into a big grin and said: “Adam, isn’t it? I follow you on TikTok!”
There then follows some fishing-based banter, including talk of York’s floods, before PCSO Dowson went on his way, with a cheery “Catch you later!”
The video finishes with the words: “Adam’s Fishing Adventures – now supported by the police.”
In the comments, the police officer won a lot of support.
“That’s a proper policeman, stopping having a chat and taking an interest in the public… top man,” said one.
Another agreed. “And THAT is how you build community relations! Talks with respect, has an actual conversation, and is genuine with you!”
And a third said: “Great to see an actual good bobby.”
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “This is great community engagement from our team in York, and just shows what a friendly plaice it is to live, work and fish.”
