With just weeks to go till it opens, the York Maze has revealed its theme for 2022.
The biggest maze in Europe has teamed up with one of the biggest names in the world.
Because the Elvington attraction is teaming up with Lego to celebrate the iconic toy’s 90th anniversary.
And once again YorkMix Radio Breakfast hosts Ben Fry and Laura Castle will be the ‘voices of the Maze’, giving you clues to guide you round.
Farmer Tom has cut more than three miles of pathways in his 15 acre field of more than a million maize plants near York. When the crop is fully grown by mid-July the maze of pathways will reveal an image when viewed from the air.
But precisely what that image will be is still under wraps. Tom said:
My design celebrating 90 Years of Lego play has been cut out using GPS technology to plot the pathways. It is nerve wracking because I can’t tell if I’ve made a mistake and put a path in the wrong place until July when the maize plants are fully grown and the final image is revealed.
Lego UK head of marketing Isabel Graham said: “Ninety years on and play remains at the heart of everything we do at the Lego Group.
“This maze offers another great way for families to play together and we can’t wait until July when the Maze design will be revealed from the sky.”
The Lego 90 Years of Play Maize Maze will open for visitors to explore from 16th July to 5th September 2022 when the crop will be harvested.
Visitors will have to navigate the maze of pathways to find LEGO Minifigures and solve the puzzle. Find all the Minifigures and you could win a prize. For details of opening times visit the York Maze website.
