Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland is officially open for 2024!
YorkMix were there last night (Thursday) for the special VIP preview night and first Christmas light switch on of the season – with ice skating fun, sweet mascots, and lots of festive magic.
Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland is now open at York Designer Outlet from Friday 15 November 2024 to Sunday 5 January 2025.
Watch the switch on:
Town crier Ben Fry, along with the gathered crowd of 150 competition winners as well as guests from Haribo and their partner charity Martin House, counted down from 10 for the big switch-on.
Our switch-on star winner, Karen Abell from Knavesmire Primary School, along with her friend Molly, turned on the lights at Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland, with YorkMix Radio presenters Laura Castle, Leigh Nicholson, Victoria Charles – and of course, Mixie Monster.
The 30ft high tree is Haribo-themed this year – as this year, the headline sponsor for Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland is the sweets manufacturer Haribo – illuminated with Starmix sweetswith and a giant Goldbear Christmas tree-topper. Goldbear was also there last night, delighting children and adults alike!
There was also a special performance from professional skating duo Jack Gilbert and Ami-Lee, before the VIP guests took to the ice for skating fun.
Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland has officially opened to the public today (Friday).
As well as ice skating, Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland offers fun for all ages at the fairground – with a Ghost House, Dodgems, children’s rides and game stalls.
The will also be a festive market, Santa’s log cabin grotto where a warm welcome and special gift for children awaits, and plenty of food and drink offerings.
The donation grotto, located at “Santa’s workshop” outside the South Entrance at York Designer Outlet, is now open too – as part of the YorkMix Toy Appeal. We are working together to help ensure that no child wakes up on Christmas Day without a gift, and are asking for donations for new and unwrapped toys.
There’s the cosy alpine-themed Chalet café or outdoor terrace, and new for 2024 is the outdoor German Grill, with sizzling gourmet sausages and spiced drinks.
Georgi Wood, Event Director, Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland comments:
