Oh, what a night!
The first YorkMix Variety Night was a terrific success, featuring all manner of live entertainment and raising a princely sum for an amazing cause.
It was staged on Friday night at the Fulfordgate Club in York, who kindly let us have the venue for free.
We put it on as YorkMix‘s contribution to the St Leonard’s Hospice Accumulator Challenge. In this, the charity gives organisations £30 – and challenges them to use it to raise much more money for their caring work.
And thanks to the many people who came out to join us on a freezing night, and joined in with gusto, we did just that!
Acts on the night included:
- Laura performing her world-famous Cher tribute
- David being the perfect host for prize-winning bingo
- Victoria hosting a live version of the legendary Quizzical
- Tim baffling all with a stupendous magic set
- And our headline act Berri, performing her smash hit Sunshine After The Rain.
Added to that was an auction of this year’s most sought-after accessory – a bottle of Prime, the TikTok-famous hydration drink. It went for £25!
A cake sale, including tray bakes donated by Cray Bakes, went down a storm, as did the raffle with many brilliant prizes donated by generous businesses.
At the end of the night you helped us raise £838 – which those generous folk at the Selby Superbowl rounded up to a chuffing marvellous £1,000!
Thanks to everyone for your support. Who knows, we may do it again some time!
