A shocking video which appears to show a security guard punching a woman customer in McDonald’s is being investigated by police.
The video shows the woman fall to the floor – and then she is dragged by one leg towards the entrance of the fast food restaurant in Blake Street, York.
Onlookers gasp as a punch is thrown, and the guard says ‘Off you go’ before manhandling her along the floor.
A McDonald’s spokesperson told The Sun: “We have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to violence or abuse of any kind.
“The individual in question works for an external security company and will not be on duty at any of our restaurants while we carry out a full investigation into this incident.”
Today, North Yorkshire Police said a woman has been arrested in connection with the incident.
They are appealing for witnesses and information about what happened.
Officers were called shortly after 6.30pm on Saturday (22 January) by staff at McDonald’s, asking for assistance with a customer.
Police attended and arrested a woman in her 30s on suspicion of assault.
“The woman was interviewed in relation to the offence and has since been released pending further investigation,” a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.
“A man in his 20s is also attending a police station today as a voluntary attendee in relation to the same incident.
“Police are aware of video footage that is circulating from the time of the incident. Officers are requesting anyone who has footage of the wider incident or who witnessed the incident to come forward.”
