A familiar landmark disappeared forever today.
The chimney stack and the main boiler house of Eggborough Power Station were demolished in a controlled explosion.
People living in the Selby area reported the ground move “like an earthquake” as the detonation took place.
It is the last major part of the plant to go. The four huge cooling towers were brought down nearly a year ago.
Several people caught the power station’s last moments on video, including Katie Oscroft of ITV Calendar.
And these videos give alternative angles.
The coal-fired power station was decommissioned in 2018.
It began generating power for the region in 1967, using coal from the Selby mines.
