New for Christmas 2022, the York Winter Hütte opens this evening (Thursday).
And we’ve had a sneak peek inside.
The two storey temporary bar and restaurant on Parliament Street is styled on a Swiss chalet.
The York Winter Hütte has a fully-licensed bar area downstairs serving seasonal favourites such as gluhwein and spiced cider, with a gourmet sausage stall catering for patrons and well as passers-by outside.
It will serve draught beers from city favourite Brew York, including a new beer Alpine Star, as well as York Gin for your G&Ts and cocktails including the Forest Negroni.
And look out for the debut of The “Edwards Espresso Martini”. A unique recipe beautifully curated by the team at The Elsham Wold Distillery.
Upstairs a new restaurant from one of Yorkshire’s best-known chefs, the Michelin-starred Andrew Pern, offers a ‘Swiss-with-a-Twist’ dining experience.
It also offers an upper terrace offering unique views of the Christmas market.
The Winter Hütte is open until 1 January 2023 every day from 9.30am until 11pm (closed on Christmas Day).
It opens today as part of St Nicholas Fair, York’s Christmas Market, in collaboration with Make It York.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the fair. Seventy alpine chalets will line Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square until 23 December, creating a festive wonderland with an array of local produce and artisan gifts on offer from local traders.
And all are offering discounts to York residents this year.
