Council workmen carried out a controlled felling of an unstable tree in York city centre this morning (Saturday).
The cycle path alongside Marygate car park was closed for a short while whilst the emergency work was carried out.
YorkMix reader Peter Hanson sent us two videos – one of the felling and the other of the clean-up.
It appears the tree, which was on the embankment next to the York to Scarborough railway line, had become unstable and had to be removed for safety reasons.
