A video has emerged showing a car going at speed seconds before crashing on the A1M in North Yorkshire.
The footage was shot on the motorway close to Sinderby near Thirsk on Sunday (31 October).
Driving conditions were horrendous at the time, with torrential rain and a large amount of water on the carriageway.
We have muted the footage so as not to identify the driver of the car containing the dashcam. But on the soundtrack, they are heard to say: “Look at the speed of this car overtaking.
“Absolutely ridiculous. He’s not far off 100mph, that car.”
Seconds later the car passes the scene of a crash. The speeding car had hit the barrier on the near side before coming to rest on its side.
Fortunately no other vehicles appeared to have been involved.
