It may be a long time till Christmas, but tickets went on sale for the Grand Opera House panto today (Wednesday) – and star Berwick Kaler said it would be well worth the wait.
The legendary dame will take centre stage in The Adventures Of Old Granny Goose, and said it would be “two hours of absolutely spectacular laughter, scenery and possibly the greatest dame who is walking this Earth”.
It will be Berwick’s 47th panto, and his second at the Grand Opera House in York, after the gang moved from their long-term home the York Theatre Royal.
Along with co-stars Martin Barrass and David Leonard, he met the first ticket buyers who queued outside the theatre to ensure they got the very best seats.
This year the panto will be brought to York by UK Productions, who have been producing Christmas pantomimes across the UK for nearly 30 years.

Berwick said he was excited to work with them. “It was the Grand Opera House who wanted us back though,” he added. “And two members of the audience.”
Other key cast members Suzy Cooper and AJ Powell are also on board.
The Adventures Of Old Granny Goose runs at the Grand Opera House, York, from Saturday 10 December 2022 to Sunday 8 January 2023.
