A wanted suspect has been detained by police following a major search operation in York.
Officers said they arrested the individual tonight (Thursday) and thanked local people for their cooperation.
Police vehicles, drones and the police helicopter have been seen above and in the Tang Hall area over the last couple of days.
In a statement tonight police said: “Earlier today we had an increased police presence in the Tang Hall area.
“This was due to officers actively searching for a wanted individual following a series of foot chases across the streets and through nearby gardens.
“After officers lost sight of the individual in the area, they were then later located thanks to the swift and determined efforts of our dedicated police community support officers from the Local Neighbourhood Policing Team.
“We are pleased to report that the individual was successfully detained and arrested.
“We understand that seeing officers in your neighbourhood can cause concern, but we assure you that these actions were taken as part of our ongoing commitment to keep the community safe, and we would like to thank residents in the area for their assistance and understanding whilst searching gardens and outbuildings in the area.”
The search is believed to be in connection with an incident in the Tang Hall Lane area yesterday lunchtime in which a person was injured.
Residents reported a large police presence on the street, along with ambulances.
