Aspiring actors can learn their craft at new performing arts classes in York.
Star of Birds Of A Feather and Broadchurch Pauline Quirke opened one of her academies in York for junior performers three years ago.
Now she has launched PQA Plus – advanced performing arts classes for aspiring professionals aged 16-25 in the city.
Industry professionals
PQA Plus includes advanced workshops in acting, singing, dance and filmmaking.
Students undertake specialist masterclasses and work with leading choreographers, directors, vocal coaches and film directors.
The end of each term culminates in an in-house performance, or a showcase to invited guests and industry professionals.
PQA has run classes for 4-18 year olds in York for the past three years. This will take aspiring professionals to the next step, said academy principal James Aconley.
“We have many exciting projects planned,” he said.
“These include masterclasses from special guest professionals, Trinity College London exams in acting and musical theatre, original films and creating actor showreels.
“Students will also work on audition technique and repertoire building in preparation for vocational training.”
