York voters go to the polls today for a by-election triggered by a councillor’s resignation.
Liberal Democrat Ed Pearson announced he was standing down from the Haxby and Wigginton ward last month, due to work commitments, to spend more time with his family and to focus on his health.
There are five candidates vying to take his place.
Polling hours will be between 7am and 10pm, and with the count taking place at the close of poll.
Here are the candidates standing for election.
Candidate name | Address | Party |
---|---|---|
John Edward Crispin-Bailey | City of York | Reform Party |
James Alexander Flinders | Pound Lane, York | Labour |
Ian Lowson | York Road, Haxby | Green |
Jessie Dawn Secker | Moor Lane, Haxby | Conservative |
Richard Watson | York Road, Haxby | Liberal Democrats |
Going into the election, Labour controls the council with an overall majority of one.
