The York Dungeon will be open again from 10am tomorrow (Friday) after it was closed for several days by the flooding.
It was nowhere near on the scale of 2015 – but the popular visitor attraction has had to turn people away while work was carried out to dry out and clean up the lower levels.
The team came in on Tuesday morning and found about six inches of water which quickly receded. That allowed them to start a rapid clean up and open again during the vital half-term week.
General manager Mark Mattinson told YorkMix that this flood was minor compared to the one on Boxing Day 2015: “Luckily, it was only in the building for less than 24 hours really.
“So we’ve got a team in doing a full site clean today.
“We had a really busy week up until that point, we did last week as well. It really is a key trading period for us as it is for other businesses in the city as well.
“So really excited we can open the doors to the York Dungeon again tomorrow (Friday).”
