This film shows two cyclists York police want to question after a pregnant woman was hit in the eye by what is believed to be a BB gun pellet.

At around 6pm on Saturday, May 23, the 32-year-old East Yorkshire woman was with her husband on Lendal Bridge.

They stopped near Pizza Express where the woman kissed her husband. At the same time she heard someone pass a comment before she fell to the ground as a result of being hit in the eye with what is believed to be a BB gun pellet.

The two cyclists shown in the footage passed the couple at the same time as the woman fell.

Officers want to speak to them as they could have important information that could help their investigation.

The woman continues to attend hospital for treatment to her eye and it is not yet known if any permanent damage has been caused.

If you are the cyclists or can help identify them, please contact North Yorkshire Police – details below.

At almost the same time 2 years ago a teenage girl passing our showroom narrowly missed serious injury in similar circumstances. The force from the gun shattered our glass window and despite handing over cctv footage of the vehicle car the gun appeared to be fired from and the item that was discharged from the gun the police felt unable to do anything. Speedy recovery to the lady injured, terribly sad for her and her family.

Someone will know them, and if it’s all they have, then it’s useful.
