Across York, Selby, Malton, Norton and the rest of North Yorkshire almost everyone is hoping that England can pull off a victory tonight in the Euro finals.

Victory for England means we will be able to enjoy that 1966 feeling again when the team won the World Cup.

YorkMix Radio and Online has been out today to talk to some people you may recognise and ask the question Is Football coming Home?.

At Sapori’s Italian Restaurant in the Shambles, Franceso Pischedda says he will be happy regardless of which side wins.

York street artist, Purpleman, says he’s worried he may not make it home in time though. He’s currently raising cash for the NHS in York with a very very slow walk.

But everyone we spoke to is optimistic and hoping for someting that will cheers us all up even if we don’t usually follow football. The England Manager, Gareth Southgate, has recorded a message to says thank you to the fans, staff, and team.

Many people are still looking for somewhere to watch the match.

It’s booking only at many venues but Marc Allinson at the Artful Dodger in Micklegate has opted for ‘walk-in’.

However it will be first come first served. He said he’d had problems with booking before where about a third of people failed to turn up meaning he couldn’t accomdate regulars.

Greg Stephenson, the chair of York Pride praised Harry Kane, England Captain, for wearing a rainbow armband in the game against Germany.

Oliver Webb from the York Balloon Fiesta said he was confident of an England victory too.

And Helen at the Earl Grey Tearooms in the Shambes predicted a 2-1 win but wouldn’t say which team it would be.
