Firefighters have been tackling a house fire in York tonight (Monday).
Several crews were sent to the blaze at a property on Burton Green.
Witnesses reported hearing a bang and seeing flames pour out of the house.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said they were called at 8.53pm: “Crews from York, Acomb and Huntington responded to a caravan on fire that then spread to two houses.
“The crew used four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and one main jet to bring the fire under control and dampen down.”
The roof and bedroom of one of the homes appeared to be damaged.
All the occupants of the house appeared to be safely out. Neighbours gathered on the central green as fire crews targeted hose reel jets at the fire.
One told YorkMix: “It just like went bang and there were two big pops. Something flew out and into a couple of houses down.
“It was just absolutely massive – the fire was just huge.”
Another witness told us: “I saw flames coming out from the side of the house and my main concern was, is there anyone in there? I’m the neighbour. Thankfully they are OK.”
