Remember when you could get one of each, and still have change from a shilling?
Well you should do – because that was today!
People queued halfway around Parliament Street in York today to take advantage of a very special offer.
As we revealed earlier this week, the National Fish & Chip Museum opened today with an amazing offer – fish and chips for 4p.
The price harked back to Victorian times when the meal first became popular.
And the deal certainly tickled York’s tastebuds as hundreds of people queued to try this fast food favourite at a never-to-be-battered (sorry, bettered) price.
Altogether about 1,000 meals were sold at fourpence. From now on though, a portion goes back to the more modern price of £5.99.
