Police have identified a man they want to talk to over a late-night attack which has left the victim in a serious condition in hospital.
We reported on Sunday how there had been an altercation at the taxi rank on St Saviourgate between 2.30am and 3am.
North Yorkshire Police then revealed more details and issued CCTV images of a man they wanted to talk to about the incident.
They said it was a “serious assault” on a man at the taxi rank.
The victim, who is 42, is in a serious condition in hospital following the incident.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said on Tuesday: “
Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal to identify a man pictured in CCTV that police wanted to speak to in connection with a serious assault on St Saviour Gate in York.
“The man has now been identified.”
