A car park in York city centre will be closed all weekend after being vandalised.
The Coppergate Centre Car Park was closed today after vandals attacked.
City of York Council issued a statement saying: “Please note, Coppergate Centre car park is currently closed due to vandalism.
“City of York Council is working with the police and the Coppergate Centre.
“The car park will remain closed over the weekend in order for repairs to be made and so additional measures put in place. We will share more updates when we can.”
The closure of the car park means a number of disabled bays are out of action.
Blue badge holders “are encouraged to make use of disabled bays in other car parks around York,” the council said.
“Holders may also park for up to three hours on double yellow lines, but are asked to please park considerately.”
More information on Blue Badge parking can be found here.
YorkMix asked the council what form the vandalism had taken but they didn’t answer.
They said more updates would be issued in due course.
