Royal Navy divers were called in after an unexploded bomb was discovered in a North Yorkshire river.
The device, thought to date from the Second World War, was found at the weekend.
It was lying the bed of the River Ure, between Bishop Monkton and the Newby Hall estate near Ripon.
It was not deemed to be an immediate risk. A cordon was placed around the area and boats prevented from using this stretch of the river.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The Royal Navy were drafted in and yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) specialist divers detonated the device.”
The picture below, taken by a police drone, shows the moment it was detonated.

“Police, navy, fire and a range of other organisations were involved in making the area safe, and managing any potential risk to local wildlife and the river,” the force spokesperson said.
The cordon has now been lifted, and boats are free to sail along the Ure again.
