Two women were taken to hospital after a car crashed into a caravan on a main North Yorkshire road today (Monday).
Emergency services were called at 9.21am to the collision on the A170 at Thornton-le-Dale, near Pickering.
The car had hit the unhitched caravan head on.
Police, paramedics and fire crews from Kirkbymoorside and Malton went to the scene. The road was closed for some time while the incident was ongoing.
Firefighters cut away the roof of the car to rescue two women inside, who are aged in their 80s.
They were taken to hospital via road ambulance with spinal injuries and shock.
Fire crews then removed the car from the caravan. They used a winch, e-draulic cutters, sharps protection and glass management to deal with the incident.
