The Burning Duck Comedy Club has been bringing live comedy to York for almost seven years.

The comedy club’s gig with comedian Mark Watson marked the return of full-capacity gigs at The Crescent Community Venue back in July – and now they’re back in full swing.

“We are very pleased to be running live comedy shows again at The Crescent,” said promoter Al Greaves. ‘Which is fast establishing itself as York’s go to destination to catch live comedy and music acts.”

After already welcoming Rob Auton this month, the comedy club are next bringing comedy stars Dane Baptiste and Lou Sanders to the venue.

In the past, Burning Duck Comedy Club has booked top acts such as James Acaster, Ed Gamble and Sara Pascoe.

“We have also been working very closely with The Crescent to ensure customers feel safe while enjoying live shows again,” added Al.

The Crescent are taking safety measures such as encouraging customers to take a lateral flow test before attending events, and encouraging the use of face coverings and to respect others’ personal space where possible.

“This last year or so has been monumentally challenging for the live comedy industry in particular,” said Al. “So we hope to see you at an upcoming show!”

Burning Duck Comedy Club is welcoming rising comedy star Dane Baptiste to The Crescent.

In 2014, Dane made comedy history as the first Black British act to be nominated for a Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Since then he has written and starred in his own BBC sitcom series, and set out on a world tour – including a sold out date at York’s The Basement.

Now Dane’s back with his new show The Chocolate Chip, which is billed to be ‘brilliantly hilarious and boldly provocative’.

Dane Baptiste will be performing at The Crescent on Thursday 23 September 2021 at 7:30pm.

Burning Duck is also welcoming Lou Sanders to The Crescent – which will be her third show with the comedy club.

Her 2018 stand-up show received rave reviews and sold out three separate runs at London’s Soho Theatre.

Lou’s new critically-acclaimed show Say Hello To Your New Step-Mummy is her largest UK tour to date. The show will examine ‘relationships, mental health and perverts’.

“We are delighted to bring Lou to York for her third show with us, after performing at our original venue The Black Swan and at The Basement,” said Al.

Lou Sanders will be performing at The Crescent on Monday 27 September 2021 at 8pm.

Tickets for all shows are available at the Burning Duck Comedy Club website.
