Not one but two tipi bars are setting up in York this summer.
Thor’s Tipi will return to Parliament Street again, while Sol Ast is back in the grounds of the Principal Hotel.
Thor’s will replace the #LoveYork tipi which opened in April, and has been a free spot for people to sit and enjoy food and drink from local businesses ever since.

Thor’s Tipi will feature a fire pit, and serve street food from Yuzu, Indocine by Krep, Shambles Kitchen, Sloppy’s Burgers, Stam & Maria, The York Roast Co and Donut Kitchen.
There will be frozen cocktails and DJ sets on the weekends.
It will open on Monday, 21 June and run till 5 September, daily from 11am to 11pm.
The Sol Ast tipi at the Principal aims for a Mediterranean vibe, serving Portuguese food from Frango Eduardo, including Piri-Piri grilled chicken and chips. And there’ll be champagne on the drinks menu for the first time.
Maybe even Liam Gallagher will be tempted to return!
It will open from 18 June to 31 August, daily from 10am to 10pm.
“The past year has been tough for so many people and this is our chance to celebrate the important things – friends and love,” said director of Thor’s Tipi, Amanda Monaghan.
“We’ve been designing some exciting interiors for both sites, including new neon selfie walls, lush florals, beautiful lighting and bespoke seating areas.”
Both bars will offer QR code ordering and table service, as well as ensuring the latest Covid-secure guidance is followed.
