Two people died in a fire which gutted a house in North Yorkshire, police revealed this evening (Sunday).
As YorkMix reported earlier, North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service responded to a blaze at a house in Camblesforth, near Selby, at 5am.
But despite the efforts of firefighters and a local man to save their lives, two people sadly died at the scene.
One man managed to escape and is receiving medical treatment.
No neighbouring properties were damaged.
Now a joint investigation is underway by both North Yorkshire’s police and fire services.
Specialist teams from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue attended the incident to help with stabilisation of the property in order to assist the investigation process.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “As part of the joint investigation to determine the cause of the fire, we are asking people to come forward with any information that could help the inquiry.”
