Two North Yorkshire Police officers have been accused of sending racist WhatsApp messages.
The pair now face a misconduct hearing by the force.
The officers are DC 1911 Danielle Kirby and PC 225 James Mills.
They are alleged to have breached the police Standards of Professional Behaviour in relation to:
- Discreditable Conduct
- Authority, Respect and Courtesy
- Equality and Diversity.
It is alleged that between 2 December 2018 and 8 March 2019, DC Kirby and PC Mills “exchanged messages via WhatsApp of a racist, discriminatory and/or offensive nature”.
The misconduct hearing will take place at the North Yorkshire Police Headquarters in Northallerton between Tuesday 14 March and Friday 17 March.
