Looking for something new, York shoppers?
Well you’re in luck as two very different stores are about to open in York city centre.
One is moving into Low Petergate. Crew Clothing Company sells mens and womenswear and is opening soon in the shop last occupied by The Sweater Shop.
Smart casual
It’s in an historic address: 73 Low Petergate dates from the 16th century.
The refurb now going on will see the shopfront “decorated in Crew Clothing Co’s colour scheme that is derived from Farrow & Ball heritage colours” according to the design statement.
Visitors to the York Designer Outlet will already be familiar with its range. Described as “the go-to British smart, casual lifestyle brand” it serves up a polo shirts, jackets, jeans and dresses.
Born in the USA
Over in the Coppergate Centre, another shop is due to open its doors in July.
While Crew Clothing’s “English heritage still remains the backbone of the company” Yankee Candle is very much born in the USA, as its name suggests.
Started in Massachusetts, USA, in 1969 when Michael Kittredge created a candle for his mum from melted crayons now has stores in 50 countries worldwide, including 2,000 in the UK and mainland Europe.
The Coppergate store moves into the unit vacated by hair salon shop Trade Secret. It will sell scented candles, accessories and gifts.
Its latest fragrances include Tobacco Flower, Viva Havana, Delicious Guava and Cuban Mohito.
