Two men escaped from their smoke-filled home after a fire last night (Sunday).
Fire crews from York and Acomb were called to the incident on Bishopthorpe Road, York at 7.15pm.
When they arrived, they saw smoke emerging from the letterbox of the house.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews located a small fire in the kitchen of the property consisting of food that had been cooking.
“The fire was out on the arrival of the crews.”
There was smoke throughout the home which firefighters dispersed with a pressure fan.
The spokesperson said: “Two male occupants of the property suffered smoke inhalation but refused the attendance of an ambulance. Advice was given to the occupants.”
