Two men have appeared in court today (Monday) charged with raping a woman in York city centre.
It was the second appearance of Eid Anwar Fathi Najjar, 20, and Mohammed Abrahim Abuzet, 24, at York Magistrates’ Court.
They were accompanied by an Arabic interpreter but didn’t enter formal pleas to the charge.
Magistrates sent the case to York Crown Court on 11 August.
Mr Najjar, of Burton Stone Lane, York, and Mr Abuzet, of Laisteridge Lane, Bradford, will then appear for a plea hearing.
They were both remanded in custody until that date.
Both were arrested after passers-by came across a distressed woman in the Pavement area of York in the early hours of Sunday (6 July).
