Two men have appeared in court charged with wounding with intent after a man in York was allegedly sprayed with a corrosive substance and set alight.
Robinson Binks, 26, of Fifth Avenue, Tang Hall, and Joshua Strickland, 29, appeared at York Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday) charged with wounding the named man with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm at an address in Fossway at about 12.30am on 19 April.
Strickland, who gave his address as a hotel in Eboracum Way, York, is also accused of witness intimidation, damaging a car belonging to a fourth man and carrying an offensive weapon, namely a hammer, in another area of York on 23 April.
Neither defendant was asked to enter a plea to the wounding charge and Strickland declined to enter a plea to the other charges he faced.
York magistrates sent the case to York Crown Court where the two defendants will enter pleas to the charges.
The date had been set for 7 May but will be changed to another date administratively.
