Two men assault woman in wheelchair on York street
A woman in a wheelchair was subjected to a verbal and physical assault in broad daylight – and police are seeking witnesses.
The woman and her husband were on The Village in Haxby at about 2.15pm-2.30pm on Thursday (July 12).
Two men verbally abused the couple, and one of them pushed the woman who was in an electric wheelchair.
The two men had been moving a broken down vehicle along the road in the direction of Wigginton just beforehand. They pushed the vehicle in that direction again immediately after the assault.
Police seek two witnesses
York police are appealing for witnesses. They are particularly keen that two women who stopped and spoke to the victim should come forward and help with their enquiries.
A third man also drove past, after the assault, and stopped to assist the suspects move their vehicle down the road.
That man was driving a forest-green Fiesta-style car and could also assist officers with the investigation.
