We had a meat spillage on the A64 on Monday – and now an offal spill is causing problems on the county’s roads.
The spill took place at about 7pm last night on the A1(M) at junction 53 to the A66 – Scotch Corner.
Highways England reported this morning: “We have two lanes closed on the northbound exit slip road due to an offal spill.
“We have worked throughout the night to try and clean this up but the road remains slippery and not safe to travel on.
“Our only option now is to resurface the area which we are organising as soon as possible. If heading to Cumbria or the Lake District today, please plan ahead as lane closures are likely to be in place for most of today.
“PS – if you know which vehicle lost the load, please let us know!”
One reader contacted us to say: “The stink was incredible!”
