A cooker fault has been blamed for a fire in a village home.
Both Malton fire appliances were sent to the incident at Wharram Le Street, near Malton, at 5.57pm last night (Tuesday).
The fire was in the kitchen and damaged the cooker and cabinets.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Fire crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel and then dismantled kitchen units checking for hot spots.
“The cause of the fire believed to be a fault in the fuel supply to the cooker.”
