A garage caught fire at a York house last night (Saturday).
Crews from Acomb and York were called to the incident at Strensall at 6.31pm.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The cause of the fire was a portable oven that was kept in the garage.
“The hob had accidentally been switched on which ignited contents above.
“The crew extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet and ventilated using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
“The garage was approximately 50% fire damaged.”
