It’s ridiculously expensive to travel by rail. According to figures from York MP Hugh Bayley, people in York have seen the cost of an annual season ticket to Leeds reach £2,056. An annual season ticket from York to Harrogate is £1,536 and from York to Newcastle it is an astonishing £5,480. Mr Bayley is campaigning against more commuter fare rises, details here.
