This is the aftermath of a crash in Malton this morning (Thursday).
A truck has crashed into the front of Robinsons Opticians in Newbiggin.
Police are at the scene diverting traffic.
It happened at 7.18am when the shop was shut and no one was inside. A structural engineer has been called.
Robinsons Opticians was established in 1981 by Andrew Robinson. It has a branch in Pickering as well as the one in Malton.
Residents expressed their sympathy with the business owners, with one saying: “I hope Nick and the team can resume service for our community as soon as possible. Independent businesses really suffer with these kinds of incidents.”
