Fire crews have been dealing with the aftermath of Storm Lilian today (Friday).

They have dealt with trees crashing down, and an electricity pole also hitting the deck.

Skipton crews dealt with a tree falling onto an electricity line at Tosside at 7am.

Then, at 7.22am, a fire officer went to a report of a tree crashing into a house at Kirk Hammerton.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The occupants of the property were found to be safe and well. Advice was given by the officer.”

A few minutes later, at 7.31am, Selby crews went to an electricity pole which had fallen onto a road.

Police closed the affected carriageway until the electricity board dealt with it.

And at 8.21am, Knaresborough firefighters responded to reports of a vehicle smoking after a tree had fallen onto it in the high winds.

The driver was uninjured and crews made the scene safe.
