Part of a York tree fell across a main York road tonight (Sunday), causing traffic problems.
A huge tree branch was blown over in the wind and the rain onto Tadcaster Road, close to York Racecourse. It has now been cleared.
It happened at about 8.20pm and narrowly missed a bus going towards the city centre.
Josh Fresson, who took the above picture, was on another bus close by. He told YorkMix: “The wind blew it down right in front of our bus.”
He said his bus was able to divert away from the scene without getting stuck in the traffic.
Adam Greenwood took this video of the scene:

North Yorkshire Police told YorkMix that they were aware of the problem. A fire crew went to the scene.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A crew from York attended a tree that had partially fallen over the road.
“Crews cordoned off the area to prevent members of the public passing under the tree and waited until the arrival of council staff to remove the tree.”
