The nights are getting darker. The witching hour is nearly upon us.
And in one corner of York, a strange and spooky transformation has just taken place.
Welcome, my friends, to… Transylvania House!
From the outside it looks like an normal suburban semi in the Layerthorpe area of York.
But once inside, it’s like travelling to a strange new world, complete with coffin, castle walls, thrones, gothic decor – and even hands emerging from the stonework.
Born in Romania, “I’m very proud of having Dracula’s blood in my veins,” Camelia told YorkMix.
“I feel like this is a tribute to my origins! Halloween is coming and the timing of launching this new project is just perfect!
“Count Vlad Țepeș, known as Dracula, is my favourite feature. I’ve created a special place in the main bedroom for its picture!
“There is an altar and a coffin that contains Dracula’s potion, safely locked and placed on the wall.”
A lot of the designs were realised by Tony Rochford, who also worked on the Wednesday family room.
The first guests to stay at Transylvania House left a glowing five-star review. “The place was wonderfully decorated, and very much lived up to its name!” they wrote.
