Equipment used by volunteers to repair the tracks of the Wensleydale Railway has been stolen
The infrastructure tools container at Leyburn was broken into over the weekend and a lot of specialised track repair tools and other equipment was stolen.
A spokesperson for the railway, which runs from Leeming Bar to Leyburn via Bedale, said: “This is the last thing that we need, especially after all the hard work that our infrastructure teams have done this year, to keep our wonderful railway operating.
“A list of the major items stolen will be added to our website soon.
“If you have any information on the stolen items, please call our office on 01677 425805 or email [email protected]”
They have started an appeal to replace the items missing. If you’d like to donate you can do so here: https://checkout.justgiving.com/c/333226 or contact Nick at [email protected].
The Wensleydale Railway runs services for tourists and locals over the old Redmire stone quarry branch that also used to carry passengers from Northallerton to Garsdale.
