Tour de Yorkshire Trophy on display in York this week – Y not go see?
It’s in the hands of our esteemed Lord Mayor Ian Gillies for now – but soon this trophy will be held aloft by some Lycra-covered super athlete.
For this is what will be presented to the first winner of cycling’s Tour de Yorkshire.
The trophy is on display in the City of York Council’s West Offices until Friday (April 10).
It is a great honour for York to host the Tour de Yorkshire trophy and I hope people will take the chance to have a closer look at the great piece of craftsmanship.
– Lord Mayor of York, Cllr Ian Gillies
Created by Thomas Fattorini Ltd, the giant Y-shaped trophy will be presented to the winner of the inaugural race that runs from May 1-3, with stage two finishing in York.
Going to Yorks most inaccessible building to have a look at the Trophy ? But it is only there until Friday , where is it going to be for the next 3 weeks?
