British indie icon Badly Drawn Boy – real name Damon Gough – will be bringing his genius alternative pop to Knavesmire.

It was June 2000 when the Mercury Prize-winning The Hour of the Bewilderbeast announced his arrival.

Since then, Badly Drawn has gone on to release four subsequent studio albums, spawning a wave of chart-topping UK indie hits that include the likes of Once Around The Block, You Were Right and the beautiful, melancholic ensemble that is The Shining.

Housed in a seated marquee on the site, the club will stage three two-hour comedy shows throughout the day.

Manford’s Comedy Club was launched by comedian Jason Manford and his brother Colin just over two years ago.

The idea was to bring comedians from the UK circuit to small towns and cities across the country for a night of live comedy.

The Yorfest shows feature Allyson June Smith, Cal Halbert and Chris Washington, among many others.

There’s lots for the youngsters to do at Yorfest. The event features facepainting and other stalls, plus a helter skelter, merry-go-round, and chair-o-plane – a 1920s swing ride.

And you can tuck in to all manner of street food from waffles to hot dogs to pizza.

Have fun!
