Tonne of Tins – help us tackle food poverty
YorkMix launches Tonne of Tins appeal on this January to help to tackle food poverty across York & North Yorkshire this winter.
We need your help to add an extra tin or two into your weekly food shop, to donate to the appeal.
The aim is to collect a tonne of tinned goods to help foodbanks in our local communities.
We will update this page with our total as tins are donated.
With the cost of living on the rise, those who currently live on the poverty line and regularly access food banks are set to feel the financial hit, harder than before, and now it’s more important than ever that food banks are kept stocked for the people that need them.
Many of us are just one pay day away from financial hardship and often one extra bill can cause strain, food banks help people in situations like this as well as regular users who have found themselves struggling to be able to afford to put food on the table.
Once again this appeal and the costs associated with running it are being supported by our friends at Yorkshire Profiles.
How can I donate to Tonne of Tins?
It’s easy! You’ll find our Donation Stations in these locations:
- YorkMix Studios inside the Wizard HQ on Rawcliffe Lane
- Clifton and inside Selby Superbowl on Bawtry Road in Selby
- NHS Systems House Amy Johnston Way Clifton Moor
Simply pop your cans in, and we’ll do the rest. Your donations will be dropped off at registered foodbanks across York & North Yorkshire (list below), to support families in our area.
Register here if you want to set up your own collection point in your business, organisation, community group or school and we will send you a poster that you can print and put up at your Donation Station.
