Bootham Crescent makes it to the front page of Wikipedia
Is this a good omen for York City’s season?
Bootham Crescent is now featuring on page one of Wikipedia.
Every day the gigantic online encyclopedia selects one of its 5,708,533 (and counting) entries to be ‘today’s featured article’.
And today it was the ‘Arena of Audacity’, also known as Bootham Crescent, home to York City FC, and more recently, York City Knights.
On the front page fascinating facts are shared, including the record attendance (28,123 in March 1938 vs Huddersfield Town).
And the article sits above the ‘Did you know…’ section, which begins: “Did you know that the parasitic sprat eye-maggot (pictured) attaches to its sprat host through its eye?”
Auspicious times.

He was spotted by officers as he cycled through the city centre last night and was ‘cornered in a garden in Acomb after a prolonged chase’.
